The GNFCC took the lead on a broad range of issues that affect business
operations and the areas quality of life
- Established the
Environmental Services Committee which contracted with LAW Engineering
and Environmental Services, Inc. to address the water and wastewater
issues facing Fulton County.
- Developed a plan
with recommendations that addressed the water / wastewater treatment
facilities in North Fulton for a three-six year time frame.
- Partnered with
Fulton County to begin implementation of these recommendations.
- Played a key
role in educating the business community and focusing on alternative
solutions.
Transportation
Analysis
- Developed and
presented Transportation Plan for North Fulton to the Georgia Regional
Transportation Authority (GRTA), the Governor and the Atlanta Regional
Commission (ARC).
- Lobbied for MARTAs
rail extension north on GA 400. Played a key role in establishing
several new bus lines for North Fulton.
- Partnered with
Fulton County and the cities of Alpharetta and Roswell on input to
the Comprehensive Transportation Plan being developed by the county.
Regional Business
Coalition
- Aided in the
passage of Senate Bill 57, which resulted in the formation of the
Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA).
- Assumed more
active role in leadership from 1998 to 1999. GNFCC held Vice-Chairman
position in 1999.
Actively involved
in realignment process
- Played a instrumental
role in enlisting major corporations to participate in Partnership
for a Smog Free Georgia.
