Karen Handel
President
Karen Handel was appointed President/CEO of the Greater North Fulton
Chamber of Commerce in Fall 2000. She joined the chamber after ten years
of corporate and trade association experience and six years in government/politics.
She also had been a member of the GNFCC Board of Directors for two years.
As President/CEO, Karen is responsible for directing all GNFCC activities
and initiatives, including issues management, member services and program
development, and economic development. Prior to joining the Chamber,
Karen was with CIBA Vision Corporation in Duluth, GA, where she held
several management positions including Worldwide Head of Corporate Communications
and Director of Global e-Business and Internet Marketing. Her expertise
and skills in political/government affairs and issues management were
developed through her position as government affairs manager for Hallmark
Cards, Inc. Notably, she also served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Marilyn
Quayle during the Bush-Quayle Administration.
After moving from
Washington D.C. eight years ago, Karen and her husband Steve now live

Melissa Holder
Communications Manager
Melissa has been
with the GNFCC since February, 1999. She is responsible for all aspects
of Chamber communications, both internal and external. This includes
developing the monthly newsletter, ChamberNews, coordinating the weekly
email, ChamberLink, and working extensively with local media. She also
works closely with each Chamber committee to report on issues.
A near-native of
the Atlanta area, Melissa attended Roswell High School in Roswell, GA.
She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with an emphasis
in broadcasting. She is also a 2001 graduate of the Leadership North
Fulton program.
Her past job experiences
have been focused in marketing and public relations. She most recently
was the Marketing Coordinator at the DeKalb Convention and Visitors
Bureau. Currently she is also the Junior Varisty Girls basketball coach
at Roswell High School.
Melissa and her
husband Mark have one dog, Champ. An avid sports enthusiast, Melissa
especially loves college basketball.

Sarah Weikert
Membership Marketing Manager
Sarah came to us in February of 1999. She brings a wealth of marketing
experience including experience from her own business relationship marketing
company, CardMailers, which she founded in 1993. Sarah has also worked
for both the Indianapolis and Scottsdale chambers in Sales, Marketing,
and Membership Development roles.
Working for the
Arizona chapter of the American Diabetes Association in 1997 and gaining
sponsorship from large pharmaceutical manufacturers, Sarah developed
a Diabetics Directory for the state of Arizona. This first of its kind
information source provided diabetics in Arizona with a database containing
all materials, supplies, and services available in the state to assist
them in managing their condition. Hailing from Indiana, Sarah graduated
from Butler University in Indianapoliswith a Bachelor's degree in business.
Sarah and her husband,
Tom, reside in Alpharetta. They have two sons, Nathaniel and Owen.
